Nexans has launched the Blite LT reduced in size micro-loose fibre optic cables for blowing into some of the smallest micro-ducts.
Micro-duct cables have been around for some 15 years, and they are generally used in FTTx deployments. This new range of compact cables, containing standard 250µm fibres, is designed for fast installation using airblowing technology in metro, distribution and access networks for FTTx applications.
The cables are based on a micro loose-tube design around a central fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) strength member and protected by a low friction high-density polyethylene (HDPE) outer sheath. Installations using fibre cables with a micro loose-tube design represent more than 90 per cent of today's demand in Europe.
