Fibercore, the UK-based developer of specialty optical fibres, will be officially releasing its new harsh environment graded-index pure silica core multimode fibre product at the Photonics West exhibition on 10-12 February.
Following the recent acquisition of Fibertronix, Fibercore is now able to offer graded-index pure-silica core multimode fibre with an extended range of specialty coatings. Coatings including carbon, high-temperature acrylate and polyimide enable Fibercore to offer fibres for some of the world’s harshest and most demanding applications such as downhole distributed sensing and structural monitoring in radioactive environments.
The expanded product range also includes new step-index multimode fibres, double-clad fibres for high-power amplifiers and fibre lasers, OEM amplifier gain block – a packaged passive optical unit for integration into amplifiers and fibre lasers and fibre Bragg grating (FBG) products in both UV-written and femtosecond versions.
‘Our product portfolio has expanded rapidly over the last six months resulting in some exciting new products,’ said Andy Gillooly, sales and technical business development manager. ‘The introduction of double-clad fibres and the OEM amplifier gain block enables us to target higher optical power sectors within the amplifier and fibre laser markets. In addition to our new fibres, we are also able to offer FBGs pre-written into our fibres, enabling us to simplify our customer’s supply route and optimize the sensing capability by offering the highest quality fibre with specific FBG designs and package them within ruggedized cabling options.’
Fibercore will be displaying its expanded product range at Photonics West 2015, Booth #2438.
