Scottish independent broadband provider GoFibre has announced its membership of Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland and shared details of its new social impact strategy together, on Safer Internet Day (Tuesday 11th February).
The Edinburgh-headquartered company has 120,000 premises ready to connect across its network in over 30 locations in Scotland and the north of England.
In addition to connecting communities with brilliant broadband, the company aims to create lasting benefits in the areas it operates in and is building activities around the pillars of its strategy.
Its new social impact strategy has four pillars, which will guide decision-making on activities like sponsorships, partnerships and volunteering:
- Community well being
- Environmental benefit
- Education and skills
- Internet safety & digital inclusion
Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland, which GoFibre has joined, is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to deliver accessible, affordable, and relevant cyber and fraud services through professional services, skills, and community building. GoFibre has also registered as a supporter of Safer Internet Day.
Neil Conaghan, CEO GoFibre, said: “At GoFibre, we take safety and security extremely seriously, and the nature of both our business, and any modern business, means that taking cyber security seriously is essential.
“The team at GoFibre are looking forward to making the most of our membership of Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland, learning about and applying best practice in the most fast-changing fields for business.
Neil continued, “That’s why internet safety is a key part of our new social impact strategy, which helps us guide our policies and our support for communities. There’s no better day than Safer Internet Day to share more about the strategy and our commitment to create creating lasting impact in our communities.”
Jude McCorry, CEO, Cyber & Fraud Centre Scotland said: “This Safer Internet Day, we’re excited to welcome GoFibre to our network. As a full fibre broadband provider, GoFibre is helping to connect communities and businesses across Scotland with fast, reliable internet.
“But connectivity isn’t just about speed - it’s also about security. Their focus on delivering safe and secure internet access makes them a great addition to our membership. We’re looking forward to the valuable insights and expertise they’ll bring to the network.”
One of the key elements of GoFibre’s social impact work to date, has been the GoFurther Fund, which has awarded grants to local charities in the Borders, Fife, Angus and Aberdeenshire to date.
