Test and measurement specialist Yenista Optics has developed the CTP10, a platform for testing passive optical components such as photonic integrated circuits and wavelength-selective switches.
The CTP10 platform has been designed for heavy duty measurements in both R&D and production environments. The mainframe hosts up to 10 hot-swappable modules and can handle up to four devices under test simultaneously.
“With the CTP10 we have achieved an exponential increase in performance. The platform has an unprecedented capacity of handling and analysing huge volumes of measurement data. It can host up to 60 power meters acquiring data at one million samples per second per power meter,” said David Heard, Yenista’s sales director.
A single wavelength scan covering the wavelength range from 1240nm to 1680nm using an external tunable laser provides insertion loss and return loss measurements for the devices under test with a dynamic range of 70dB. The power meters of the platform enable accurate characterisation of small ripple (0.1 mdBm/µs) and steep edges (> 1 dB/µs) for high-end filters and micro-resonators with slopes of up to 10,000dB/nm.
The graphical user interface (GUI) is based on Yenista’s OSA20 optical spectrum analyser, so that setting up measurements and analysing results is simple and intuitive, the company claims. The embedded software can be displayed on two screens: one for graphically configuring the test set-up and the other for display and analysis of the measurements.
Yenista demonstrated the CTP10 for the first time at OFC 2017. The product will start shipping in the fourth quarter of 2017.
