EXFO launches tunable CWDM OTDR modules

EXFO has launched the FTB-740C-CWDM, a tunable optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) module designed for its handheld FTB-1 platform, which enables technicians to test all 18 ITU-defined CWDM channels without having to swap modules.

This capability will be speed up network testing for cable multiple-service operators (MSOs) and contractors, who will always have the CWDM wavelength required for characterising their network through multiplexers and demultiplexers (mux/demux).

EXFO launches FTB-4 Pro platform for all-in-one 100G test

EXFO has launched the FTB-4 Pro platform, which it claims is the industry's smallest platform for testing high-speed optical networks.

The FTB-4 Pro is the latest addition to EXFO's modular test portfolio. It supports a wide range of modules across a wide range of test scenarios, from lab applications to field testing across all phases of the service delivery chain: development, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Test and measurement vendor EXFO says that its new software, Fast Short Link, can characterise short optical links three times faster than before. Fast Short Link provides link characterisation including accurate link loss, length and high-level link mapping, all under 10 seconds per fibre.

EXFO introduces LTK-1 benchtop power meter

EXFO has launched the LTK-1, which combines the FTB-1750 power meter module in the new LTB-1 platform. Together, the kit delivers a low-cost, high-performance benchtop power meter aimed at lab and production environments.  

The FTB-1750 optical power meter delivers high-performance power measurements. The patented design of the FTB-1750 saves time, cuts costs and significantly enhances measurement throughput, the company claims. Its 85dB range and fast stabilisation time allow engineers and technicians to simultaneously measure high and low signals on up to four channels.

EXFO launches TestFlow cloud-based test automation

EXFO has launched TestFlow, its new process automation and compliance application that helps mobile network operators to streamline and automate complex testing procedures during the construction and service turn-up phases of fibre-based mobile networks, including centralised radio access network (C-RAN), fibre-to-the-antenna (FTTA), distributed antenna system (DAS) and small cell deployments.

EXFO revamps entire OTDR and iOLM product range

EXFO has overhauled its entire range of optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) for characterising fibre-optic cables. With 42 new and completely redesigned models, EXFO’s new C-series OTDRs offer improved specifications and extended performances to any networks, the company claims.

Now available on practically the entire product range, EXFO's Intelligent Optical Link Mapper (iOLM) application provides automated fault finding as well as accuracy and repeatability in fibre characterisation.

iLOOP function from EXFO reduces OTDR test time

The new intelligent loopback feature for EXFO’s intelligent Optical Link Mapper (iOLM) application is designed to simplify optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) testing by allowing two fibres to be characterised at once.

This doubles test efficiency, resulting in time spent on testing and analysis being slashed by at least 50 per cent, the company claims. Cutting fibre-testing time in half amounts to substantial opex savings - a key consideration for operators.

EXFO enhances CPRI test capabilities

EXFO has added an enhanced common public radio interface (CPRI) protocol test functionality to its all-in-one Ethernet/optical FTB-700G series and FTB-800 NetBlazer series of portable field testers.

This latest feature gives field technicians the capability to install and maintain mobile fronthaul networks by testing connectivity and data integrity between the remote radio head (RRH) and baseband unit (BBU) in new fibre-fed cell towers.
