Ekinops introduces FlexRate 100G/200G transport modules

Ekinops has introduced two new flexible rate line modules – the PM 200FRS02 and PM 200FRS02-SF – that lower the cost of optical transport while improving network efficiency and flexibility. A major Spanish wholesale operator is one of the first customers to deploy this new solution.

PacketLight offers PL-2000ADS muxponder for short-haul networks

PacketLight Networks has launched the PL-2000ADS, a 200G 1U multi-protocol multi-rate muxponder/transponder device for short-haul and encryption applications.

The new unit is designed for high-capacity optical transport in short haul, campuses, and access networks. With low power consumption and compact dimensions, the PL-2000ADS reduces the overall cost of providing these high-capacity links over shorter distances, according to PacketLight.

XKL launches DarkStar DMD-A optical utility appliance

Optical transport equipment developer XKL has introduced the DarkStar Mux/Demux – Amplifier (DMD-A) optical utility appliance, which allows businesses to add capacity to their optical networks with ease.

The mux/demux combines wavelengths from a DarkStar DWDM optical transport platform onto the same fibre. A variety of filter options are provided including 48-channel or 96-channel mux/demux and 4-band or 6-band combiner filter, which can be configured for point-to-point or east/west nodes.

Coriant offers open line system for long-haul DCI applications

Coriant has introduced a new open optical line system that has been designed to meet the requirements of long-haul data centre interconnect (DCI) as demand for high-capacity connectivity between geographically-dispersed data centre sites continues to grow.

The Coriant 7300 Open Line System (OLS) complements Coriant’s Groove G30 transponder/muxponder DCI platform, and is compatible with open systems from third-party vendors.

ADVA launches FSP Network Hypervisor for optical network virtualisation

ADVA Optical Networking has launched its FSP Network Hypervisor, which the company describes as a key component in the drive to virtualise optical networks. The software has been developed to help service providers automate service discovery and service activation, when paired with the ADVA FSP 3000 platform.

Infinera targets 5G with new mobile transport product range

Infinera has expanded its mobile fronthaul and backhaul product ranges to support the stringent performance requirements of mobile operators as their networks advance towards 5G. The new products include flexponders for mobile fronthaul and a new EMXP Access Unit for mobile backhaul, which extends the capabilities of the XTM Series platform.

PacketLight beefs up physical layer security with PL-2000AD

PacketLight Networks has added Layer 1 optical encryption capabilities to its PL-2000AD Optical Transport Network (OTN) platform in order to protect data in transit at the physical layer.

The PL-2000AD is a fully integrated, compact 1U multiprotocol, multi-rate platform that now equips enterprises and carriers with extended point-to-point Layer-1 encryption capabilities across their metro and long-haul routes.

ZTE develops OTN-based quantum encryption system

Chinese telecom equipment vendor ZTE has launched what it claims is the industry’s first quantum encryption solution for Optical Transport Network (OTN) transport equipment.

ZTE’s new system exploits the quantum mechanical properties of photons to create an ‘unbreakable’ communications channel. The secure transmission capability and anti-decoding capability are far higher than any traditional information encryption methods. “This will elevate the telecommunication information security sector,” ZTE said in a statement.
