Smartoptics, a supplier of optical networking solutions, has announced that its 16Gb optical transceivers have been approved by Brocade in all of their latest fibre channel switches. This allows the lowest cost and highest capacity connectivity options for SAN extensions in business continuity and disaster recovery applications.

JDSU has introduced TrueSpeed VNF, a solution capable of assessing customer quality of experience in a virtualised computing environment. TrueSpeed VNF helps service providers resolve customer complaints about poor network performance. The virtualised network function (VNF) software can be deployed anywhere network operators and enterprises have computing resources in the network, and is interoperable with JDSU’s StrataSync-enabled T-BERD/MTS handheld network test instruments.

VI Systems has introduced the 2nd generation of its 12-channel parallel optical testboards for p[erformance of up to 300 Gbit per second. The VHXT6212A-840 transmitter test board offers high speed electrical input connectors for differential signal input for each channel and standard SMA connectors for the supply voltage.

Fujikura has launched a new line of high precision large diameter fibre (LDF) cleavers designed for fusion splicing and glass processing preparation.

The Fujikura CT- 105/106 are the first devices for Fujikura in the range  to go on sale, and will provide advanced cleaving solutions for end-users in fibrelaser and optical fibre sensor applications  - across the oil and gas, university, R&D, submarine cabling, defence, optical components and medical markets.

UTEL, an independent research and development company for telecommunications systems, has announced its new product, Robo-Cab, an innovative fully managed ADF system which Utel claims will revolutionise the future operation and management of FTTC.

UTEL is to unveil Robo-Cab at Broadband World Forum 2014, in Amsterdam. The system can fully automate the whole cabinet, including copper cross connect, VDSL splitter jumpering, copper line testing, VDSL DSLAM port testing and cross connect testing.

ASSIA, a solutions company for broadband service providers, has announced the launch of Optical Network Expresse (ON-Expresse), which will support Fiber-to-the-Basement (FTTB), Fiber-to-the-Distribution-Point (FTTdp), and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments. ON-Expresse, an extension of its flagship DSL Expresse network management and optimisation product, greatly simplifies deployment, operation and service assurance for access networks using Passive Optical Network (PON) technology.

Telco Systems, a provider of SDN & NFV and multi-service Carrier Ethernet 2.0 and MPLS edge solutions, has announced the release of its first two TelcoApps, vFirewall and

UTEL, an independent research and development company for telecommunications systems, has unveiled the new PTO 4 customer termination unit for the first time as part of ECOC 2014.

Once installed, the pre-connected unit can serve between one and four outlets and is factory terminated with cables up to the length of 60 metres, enabling service providers to carry out easier installations of quality Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) fittings. As a result, the time engineers spend at customer premises is minimised and the need for specialist tools, such as splicers, is eliminated.

Fujikura Europe has announced that its fusion splicer, the
